Expert Fleece Processing for Natural Fibres

Fleece Processing Services

Small-batch fibre processing support for sheep fleece, alpaca fibre and other natural fibres — helping you understand what you have, what it can become, and what the next step should be.

Not sure where to start?

That is completely fine. You do not need to know all the fibre terms before getting in touch. If you have a fleece, alpaca blanket or prepared fibre and feel unsure what it can become, ADHCrafts can help you work through the options step by step.

The enquiry form includes “help me decide” options, so you can ask for guidance rather than having to choose everything perfectly before you start.

This matches your consultation approach, where the customer does not need to arrive with every technical answer already decided. The worksheet collects fibre type, breed, fleece condition, preferred finished product, yarn preferences and sample needs during the process

What ADHCrafts can help with

Fibre assessment

We look at the condition of your fibre and what it may be suitable for.

Skirting and cleaning

Lower-quality, dirty, matted or unsuitable areas can be removed where needed.

Carding and fibre preparation

Fibre may be prepared as batts, rolags, roving or another suitable form.

Hand spinning

Suitable fibre can be hand-spun into yarn, with yarn weight and finish discussed before work begins.

Sample processing

A small sample can help test how the fibre behaves before committing to a larger project.

What affects the final result?

Fibre processing depends on the condition of the fleece as well as what you would like it to become. Staple length, staple strength, vegetable matter, matting, second cuts, storage condition and intended use can all affect the best processing route.

Why you get less fibre back than you send?

Fibre loss is normal. Dirt, grease, vegetable matter, weak fibre, second cuts and matted areas can all reduce the amount of usable fibre returned. A guide estimate can be discussed before work begins, but the final yield depends on the fibre itself.

Please wait for booking confirmation and start date.

Please do not post or drop off fibre until your booking has been confirmed and you have been given an agreed start date or delivery window. This helps keep every batch labelled, dry, separate and safe.
